A coilover conversion integrates the spring and damper into a single assembly, allowing finer control over ride height and damping characteristics under load.

Each is a different approach to rear load support, matched to your GVM tier and lift height for certified compliance and optimal load handling.

Not every package. Higher GVM tiers require load-rated wheels and tyres to meet certification — your dealer will confirm for your specific build.

The Ram 1500 DT's factory GVM rating doesn't account for the weight of a typical Australian touring or work build. Add a tray, canopy, toolboxes, drawers, roof rack, camping gear, and factor in passengers and fuel — and you can exceed the factory GVM before you've even hitched up a trailer. A GVM upgrade legally increases the weight your Ram can carry, so you stay compliant on every trip.
GVM (Gross Vehicle Mass) is the maximum legal weight of your Ram 1500 fully loaded — including the vehicle, passengers, fuel, accessories, tray, canopy, drawers, tow ball download, and everything else on the vehicle.

GCM (Gross Combination Mass) is the maximum legal weight of the vehicle and trailer combined.

In simple terms: GVM is about what your truck can carry on its own wheels, while GCM is about how much total weight the truck and trailer can handle together.
Yes — all Ram 1500 DT GVM upgrade packages from America's Garage are designed and certified for ASV (Ateco Special Vehicles) imports only. This refers to the Ram 1500 DT sold through the official Australian ASV distribution channel, which is the most common variant in Australia. If you're unsure whether your Ram qualifies, contact our team and we'll confirm before you book.
The Ram 1500 DT is available with a V8 engine or the Hurricane inline-six engine (Laramie variant). Due to differences in platform weight, the GVM upgrade tiers differ between these variants — V8 models are upgraded to 3.65T or 3.85T, while Hurricane Laramie variants are upgraded to 3.99T.

The Hurricane-specific 3.99T packages are engineered specifically for that platform and use the same Fox 2.5" shock lineup, UCAs, and airbag support.
Not automatically. A GVM upgrade increases how much weight the vehicle can legally carry on its own wheels — not necessarily how much it can tow. Towing capacity, tow ball download, axle loads, and GCM all interact with each other.

All Ram 1500 DT GVM upgrade packages include a 4,500kg pre-registration braked towing capacity. If towing is a big part of how you use your Ram, make sure to discuss this with our team before choosing a package.
